Alliance Française de Bangalore teaches French in modules of about 70 hours each, such as A1.1, A1.2 and A2.1. Each level of the CEFR scale, the European framework that runs from A1 (beginner) to C2, is split into these modules. The October 2026 course catalogue for adults lists three paces, online and on campus.
| Pace | Typical schedule | Hours per module | Fee per module |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fast track | Weekday sessions of about 3 hours | About 70 | Rs. 9,450 |
| Extensive | Weekday sessions of 2 hours (35 sessions) | About 70 | Rs. 9,975 |
| Weekend | Saturday and Sunday sessions of about 3 hours | About 70 | Rs. 12,950 |
Fees are as listed in October 2026, and timings change from batch to batch, so check the catalogue for the module you want. The centre also runs courses for teens and children, and the DAEFLE course for people who want to teach French.
How do you register for a French course?
- 1
Check your level. Complete beginners start at A1.1. For any other level, Alliance Française asks for a placement test, unless you have an authorised certificate less than six months old.
- 2
Pick a batch in the course catalogue. Filter by level, pace and online or on-campus format.
- 3
Register online. Use the "Register now" link on the adult courses page, which opens the student portal.
- 4
Ask about grants if cost is a barrier. Each year the centre gives a few grants to underprivileged young people aged 16 to 25 who are keen to learn French. See its scholarship page for how to apply.

| DELF/DALF level | Alliance Française students | External candidates |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | Rs. 7,286 | Rs. 11,210 |
| A2 | Rs. 7,848 | Rs. 11,210 |

The 2026 calendar has four DELF and DALF sessions for adults, in March, June, September and December. Check the current calendar on Alliance Française's exam page and register as soon as the window opens.
TCF Canada at Alliance Française de Bangalore
TCF Canada is a French test accredited by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), and Québec's immigration ministry has recognised it since January 2022. It has four compulsory parts: listening (35 minutes), reading (60 minutes), writing (60 minutes) and a 12-minute speaking test. Alliance Française de Bangalore offers it on paper only. The TCF Canada page lists each session with its registration window, and sessions can fill before registration closes. You must wait at least 20 days between attempts.

When does learning French help your study abroad plans?
- Studying in France in English. Campus France India says France has over 1,400 programmes taught in English, so you do not need French to earn a degree there. French-taught programmes set their own French level. Our guide to studying in France from Bangalore covers the application.
- Points for French in Canada. Express Entry is Canada's points system for permanent residence. According to IRCC, French at NCLC 7 or higher in all four skills adds 50 points if your English is CLB 5 or higher in all four skills. It adds 25 points if your English is CLB 4 or lower, or if you have no English test.
- French-speaker invitation rounds. IRCC says it will keep holding Express Entry rounds for candidates with strong French skills in 2026.
- Québec. TCF Canada is recognised for Québec immigration applications. French also opens up French-taught programmes at Québec universities such as Université Laval.
Tips for students in Bangalore and Karnataka
- Plan your trip for exam day. If you live elsewhere in Karnataka, such as Mysuru, Mangaluru or Hubballi, the only authorised DELF and DALF centre in the state is this one in Bangalore.
- Take modules online from anywhere in Karnataka. Online fast-track and extensive batches let you learn from home and travel only for the exam.
- Mark registration windows early. DELF and TCF Canada registration closes weeks before the exam, and some sessions fill before the window ends.
- Use Campus France for France. Campus France India runs a Bangalore office for students applying to French universities; check its office page for the current address and contact.
- Talk to us in Hebbal. Our office in Hebbal helps you plan French classes around your applications for France or Canada.
