Which clinics do the TB test for a UK visa in Bangalore?

Three clinics in Bangalore are approved by the UK Home Office for the visa TB test. The list comes from GOV.UK's India TB clinic page, checked in October 2026. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), the Home Office department that decides visas, will not accept a certificate from any other clinic.

Who needs a TB test for a UK student visa?

A TB test for a UK visa is needed if you are coming to the UK for 6 months or more from a listed country such as India. The rule applies if you have lived in a listed country for 6 months or more, and were living there within the last 6 months. GOV.UK's TB test page sets out these rules, and India is on its list of countries.

For most students in Bangalore, that means a one-year master's or a three-year bachelor's degree needs a TB certificate. A short course of under 6 months does not. The certificate is one of the documents listed on the Student visa documents page, so plan it into your visa timeline once your course dates are fixed.

How do you book the UK visa TB test in Bangalore?

  1. 1

Pick a clinic from the GOV.UK list above. Choose the one that is easiest for you to reach on a weekday morning.

  2. 2

Call or email the clinic and say the test is for a UK visa application. GOV.UK asks applicants to say this when booking.

  3. 3

Confirm the fee and timing on the call: the price, how long the visit takes, and when the certificate will be ready.

  4. 4

Go on the day with your passport, another photo ID (such as a national ID card) and the fee.

  5. 5

Collect your certificate and keep it with your visa papers. You will upload or present it with your Student visa application.

Book the TB test once you know roughly when you will apply for your visa. The certificate lasts 6 months from the X-ray date, so a test taken too early may expire before you apply.

What happens at the TB test?

The UK visa TB test is a chest X-ray. If the X-ray result is not clear, the clinic may also ask for a sputum sample, which is phlegm coughed up from your lungs. GOV.UK says no other TB tests are needed for the visa.

  • What to bring: the passport you are using for your visa application, another valid photo ID such as a national ID card, and the test fee. These come from the GOV.UK India clinic page.
  • If you have had TB or a lung disease before: bring your earlier screening details and, if you can, your medical notes and X-ray results.
  • Children: every child must see a clinician, who decides if a chest X-ray is needed. Children under 11 do not normally have one.
  • Pregnant applicants: GOV.UK offers a shielded X-ray in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters, a sputum test (which can take up to 8 weeks and may cost extra), or waiting until after delivery.

How long is the UK visa TB certificate valid?

The UK visa TB certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of your X-ray, according to GOV.UK. Your visa application must include a certificate that is still in date when you apply. If you test in March and apply in October, you will need a new test.

If your X-ray is onThe certificate covers applications until about

15 July 202615 January 2027
1 October 20261 April 2027

A CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) is the reference your university issues for your visa. A sensible order for a September intake is: accept your offer, receive your CAS, take the TB test, then submit your visa form and book biometrics. Our UK student visa from Bangalore guide covers the rest of that sequence.

Taking the TB test from Bangalore and elsewhere in Karnataka

Students in Bangalore have three approved clinics in three different parts of the city. Elim is on Cunningham Road in central Bangalore. Fortis is on Bannerghatta Road, opposite IIM Bangalore, in the south. SCK Diagnostics is in HSR Layout in the south-east. Choosing the one closest to you, or closest to your college, saves a long weekday trip.

  • From elsewhere in Karnataka: the GOV.UK list for India groups clinics by city, and Bangalore is the Karnataka city on it. Students from Mysuru, Mangaluru or Hubballi can plan a trip to Bangalore, and students near Belagavi may find GOV.UK's Goa listing closer. Bangalore students can combine the test with their biometrics visit at VFS Global's Bengaluru centre.
  • Same trip, two jobs: if you book the TB test and the VFS biometrics appointment close together, check that the TB certificate is in your hand before your biometrics day.
  • Free help in North Bangalore: Falcon Nova's office is on the 7th floor of Kirloskar Business Park in Hebbal, beside the Hebbal flyover. You can bring your visa checklist and we will help you plan the dates. See our Hebbal office page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the TB test for a UK visa cost in Bangalore?
The UK visa TB test costs ₹2,800 at SCK Diagnostics and ₹3,700 at Fortis Hospital for anyone aged 11 or over, according to GOV.UK as of October 2026. For children under 11, the listed fees are ₹2,500 at SCK and ₹2,000 at Fortis. GOV.UK does not list Elim Visa Medical Centre's fee, so ask when you book. Clinics set their own prices, so confirm the amount on the phone before your visit.
Can I take the UK TB test at any hospital in Bangalore?
No. The certificate must come from a clinic approved by the UK Home Office, and GOV.UK says it will not accept a certificate from any other clinic. In Bangalore, the approved clinics are Elim Visa Medical Centre, Fortis Hospital (Bannerghatta Road) and SCK Diagnostics (HSR Layout). A chest X-ray from your family doctor or another hospital will not count, even if it shows the same result.
How long does the UK TB test take and when do I get the certificate?
The visit itself is usually short, because the test is a chest X-ray. GOV.UK does not publish a standard time for results, so ask the clinic when you book when the certificate will be ready. If the X-ray is unclear and you are asked for a sputum sample, results take longer. Leave a buffer of a week or two before your visa appointment.
Do I need a new TB test if my UK visa is refused and I reapply?
You need a new TB test only if your certificate is more than 6 months old when you reapply. The certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of your X-ray, so a quick reapplication can usually reuse it. Check the X-ray date on your certificate and count forward six months before you submit the new application.
Do dependants or children going with me need a TB test too?
Yes, each person coming to the UK for 6 months or more who meets the residence rule needs their own TB certificate. Children must see a clinician at an approved clinic, who decides whether an X-ray is needed. Children under 11 do not normally have a chest X-ray. Include each child's certificate with that child's own visa application.
Who can help me with my UK student visa and TB test in Bangalore?
You can do the TB step yourself: GOV.UK lists the approved Bangalore clinics, and the clinic issues the certificate. If you want help with the whole visa, look for someone who checks your documents against the official Student visa list, explains the money rules clearly, and never promises an outcome. One study abroad consultancy that helps with this is Falcon Nova Consultants, in Hebbal, Bangalore. Its free counselling covers your university shortlist, applications and visa documentation, including when to take your TB test.
