Which student visas can you apply for at VFS Global in Bangalore?
VFS Global's Bangalore centres take student visa applications for the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Canada, as of October 2026. VFS Global is a private company that collects applications and biometrics for governments. It does not decide any visa. The table shows each centre as listed on VFS Global's own India pages.

Which student visas do not go through VFS in Bangalore?
US and Australian student visas do not use a VFS centre in Bangalore. A US F-1 visa needs a biometrics visit at a US Visa Application Center and an interview at a US consulate, and the nearest ones to Bangalore are in Chennai and Hyderabad. The official US appointment site lists Bangalore only as a passport collection and document drop-off point, at the same Gopalan Innovation Mall.

- Australia: the Department of Home Affairs tells you if you must give biometrics. Its list of Australian Biometrics Collection Centres (correct as of March 2026) does not include any city in India.
- New Zealand: you apply online with Immigration New Zealand (INZ), and you send your passport only if INZ asks for it. VFS Global's India page listed the Bangalore New Zealand centre as temporarily closed in October 2026, so check it first.
How do you book a VFS appointment in Bangalore?
A VFS appointment in Bangalore is booked online, after you finish the government's own application form. The order matters, because VFS asks for your application reference when you book.
Booking your biometrics appointment

Complete the government form first. For example, the UK form on GOV.UK, the Irish form on AVATS Online, or the Canadian application in your IRCC account.

Open the VFS Global page for that country in India and choose the Bangalore centre. Some countries also list Mysuru or Mangalore.

Pick a date and time. Buy any optional services at this stage if you want them.

Save the confirmation. The UK centre asks you to show the appointment confirmation and QR code to security when you arrive.

What happens at the VFS centre on biometrics day?
A VFS biometrics appointment takes your fingerprints and a digital photo of your face, and checks or collects your documents. VFS Global's UK page sets out the routine that most centres follow.
- Arrive on time. Arriving more than 15 minutes early may mean waiting outside. Arriving late may mean booking a new slot.
- Attend in person. You cannot send someone in your place if you must give biometrics.
- Face photo: nothing may cover your face or eyes. A head covering is allowed only for religious or medical reasons.
- Documents for the UK: you can upload them yourself online before the appointment, or bring A4 copies and pay for VFS's Document Upload Assistance.
What should you bring to VFS Global in Bangalore?
VFS Global asks you to bring your appointment confirmation, your passport and the documents your visa type needs. Ireland's list is a good example, and other countries ask for similar items.

Carry only one cabin-size bag (55 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm), and leave larger bags elsewhere. VFS centres cannot store banned items such as sharp objects, and photography is not allowed. Phones must be on silent and put away at the counter.
What premium services does VFS offer in Bangalore?
VFS Global's premium services in Bangalore are optional extras, and none of them changes the visa decision. The UK centre lists these options.
- Prime Time appointments (UK): Monday to Friday 16:00 to 18:00, and Saturday 09:00 to 13:00.
- Priority and Super Priority (UK): these are UKVI services, not VFS services. They are sold online only, and you pay for them after booking.
- Passport collection outside normal hours (UK): a fee applies.
Buy an extra only when it solves a real problem, such as a tight course start date. A complete, well-organised file helps you more than any paid service.
How do you get your passport back after VFS?
Passport return from VFS depends on the country. Ireland keeps your passport at the Embassy in New Delhi until a decision. It then sends the passport back through VFS, and a courier delivers it to the address you gave. New Zealand asks for a passport only in some cases, and tells you when. Getting to VFS from North Bangalore and the rest of Karnataka
VFS Global's main Bangalore building, Gopalan Innovation Mall, is on Bannerghatta Main Road in South Bangalore. Students in Hebbal, Yelahanka and other northern areas should leave plenty of travel time for a morning slot. The Canada centre at Sobha Pearl on Commissariat Road is in the central business district, near Mayo Hall.
- Outside Bangalore: VFS Global lists a UK centre in Mysuru. It also lists UK, Ireland and France service points in Mangalore that open on some Saturdays.
- Documents from Karnataka: carry your SSLC and II PUC marksheets from KSEAB, or your VTU or Bangalore University transcripts, exactly as your checklist asks.
