Trinity College Dublin was founded in 1592, and more than four centuries later it is still Ireland's highest-ranked university: 75th in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2027, and inside the global top 100 for the fifth year in a row. It is also unusual among top universities in being right in the city centre, at College Green in Dublin 2, with Dublin's offices, tech firms and cafés all around it.
For Indian students who want to study in Ireland, Trinity offers something many families don't expect: a world-top-100 degree, one-year taught master's programmes, and up to two years of post-study work permission after a master's, in an English-speaking EU country. This guide covers what you need to study at Trinity College Dublin as an international student: 2026/27 fees, entry marks for Indian applicants, Trinity's India-specific scholarships, and how to apply from Bangalore.
Trinity College Dublin at a Glance
Trinity Business School's triple accreditation puts it, in the school's own words, in the top 0.6% of business schools worldwide. And Trinity's India page notes links with India going back to 1832. Trinity has dedicated recruitment staff for North, West and South India.
What Can You Study at Trinity?
1. Computer Science and Statistics
The School of Computer Science and Statistics runs the Masters in Computer Science with specialist strands including Intelligent Systems (AI), Data Science and Future Networked Systems. These are the programmes Indian engineering graduates ask about most. Applications for 2026/27 opened on 1 November 2025, and the next cycle is likely to follow the same pattern, so have your SOP and transcripts ready by autumn.
2. Engineering
Undergraduate engineering at Trinity is a common-entry programme with a fifth, postgraduate year, with specialisations in Biomedical, Civil and Structural, Computer, Electronic, and Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. Graduates who already hold a bachelor's degree can take a one-year Masters in Engineering or the Masters in Biomedical Engineering.
3. Business, Finance and Management
Trinity Business School offers one-year master's programmes in Finance, Management, Business Analytics & AI for Management and Financial Risk Management, plus a full-time MBA. At undergraduate level, Business, Economic and Social Studies (BESS) is Trinity's flagship multidisciplinary degree.
4. Law, Humanities and the Sciences
Trinity's reputation in law, English literature, history and philosophy goes back centuries (the Book of Kells is kept in its Old Library). Its sciences, from Chemistry and Physics to Genetics and Immunology, are equally strong for research-minded students.
Most Popular Courses for Indian Students: Masters in Computer Science (Intelligent Systems, Data Science strands), Masters in Finance, Masters in Management, Business Analytics & AI for Management, Masters in Engineering, and undergraduate Computer Science, Engineering and BESS.

These are Trinity's published non-EU year-one fees. Student levies are charged on top, and continuing-year fees can rise, so check the current schedule for your exact course. It pays to plan the full picture early: talk to us and we will map Trinity's costs against the scholarships you can apply for.
Entry Requirements for Indian Students
Undergraduate
- Academic: An overall average of 80–85% in six Grade XII subjects, or five Grade XII subjects plus one different Grade X subject. Trinity recognises CBSE (AISSCE), CISCE (ISC) and Grade XII / Higher Secondary examinations.
- Subject rules: You must have studied Mathematics and a language other than English up to Grade X. Many students meet this through Hindi, Kannada or another second language.
- Course-specific requirements: Some courses add subject requirements; they are listed on each course page.
- Pathway: If you don't yet meet direct-entry standards, Trinity's International Foundation Programme offers another route in.
Postgraduate (Taught Master's)
- Academic: At least a 2.1 honours degree or the equivalent from a recognised university. Trinity assesses Indian degrees individually, so a strong CGPA from a well-regarded institution helps.
- Course specifics: Some programmes set higher standards, ask for further tests or hold interviews. Contact the course coordinator if you are unsure.
- Statement of purpose and references: A focused SOP that connects your background to the course makes a real difference for competitive programmes.
English Language Requirements
| Test | Standard Entry | Higher Entry |

Scholarships for Indian Students
- 1. Trinity STEM Indian Undergraduate Scholarship
- Listed by Trinity's Faculty of STEM for Indian nationals resident in India applying for undergraduate courses: a competitive fee reduction of €9,000 a year for four years (€36,000 in total). Confirm current availability for your intake.
- 2. Trinity STEM Indian Postgraduate Scholarship
- A €3,000 fee reduction on taught MSc and MPhil courses for Indian nationals resident in India who hold an offer, considered competitively.
- 3. Global Excellence Scholarships
- €2,000–€5,000 depending on region, applied as a one-time fee reduction for non-EU undergraduate and postgraduate taught students with an offer for 2026/27. Awards are made on a rolling basis, and the undergraduate deadline for India ("all other regions") was 15 June 2026. Business, engineering, natural sciences and computer science courses are excluded.
- 4. Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES)
- Run by the Higher Education Authority: a €10,000 stipend plus a full fee waiver from your university for one year of master's or PhD study. The 2026 call funded around 60 scholarships and closed on 12 March 2026. It runs as an annual call, so a September 2027 applicant should prepare for the next one in early 2027.
The detail that helps STEM applicants. Trinity's Global Excellence Scholarship leaves out computer science, engineering and the natural sciences, the subjects most Indian applicants choose. Many applicants stop there. But Trinity's STEM faculty runs its own India-specific awards, and those cover exactly these subjects. Apply for your course early, then check the STEM Indian scholarship terms as soon as your offer arrives.
Student Visa, Work Rights and Stamp 1G
From offer to Dublin
- 1
Accept your offer and pay your fees. Irish immigration rules require you to pay at least €6,000 of your tuition before you apply for your visa (or the full fee, if it is less than €6,000), and Trinity may ask for more, so arrange this early.
- 2
Show immediate access to at least €10,000 for living costs for your first year, plus access to €10,000 for each later year of your course, on top of your fees. Six months of bank statements are the usual evidence.
- 3
Complete your application on AVATS Online, then give biometrics and lodge your documents at a VFS Global Visa Application Centre. The Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi lists usual study-visa decisions at 4–8 weeks from the day it receives your application, and applications made less than three weeks before your course starts cannot be guaranteed a decision.
- 4
Within 90 days of arriving, register your permission with Immigration Service Delivery (ISD), by appointment; the fee is usually €300. ISD's Registration Office is on Burgh Quay in Dublin, and Trinity's international office can tell you how registration works for its students. You receive Stamp 2 and an Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card, which lets you work 20 hours a week during term and 40 hours a week in June to September and from 15 December to 15 January.
- 5
After graduating, apply for Stamp 1G within six months of getting your results: 12 months after a level 8 honours degree; after a level 9 master's, 12 months that can be renewed for 12 more (up to 24) if you show you are actively looking for graduate work.
Stamp 1G lets you work full-time without an employment permit while you find a graduate role and move onto a Critical Skills or General Employment Permit. Dublin is home to the European headquarters of many global technology and finance companies, so a Trinity master's followed by up to two years of work permission gives you a real chance to build an international career.
Applying from Bangalore and Karnataka
- Karnataka II PUC: Trinity's India page names CBSE, CISCE and Grade XII / Higher Secondary examinations but not the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board specifically. Send your II PUC marks to Trinity's India team before applying and get written confirmation of how they will be assessed.
- A Trinity contact in your city: Trinity lists a recruitment officer for South India and Sri Lanka based in Bangalore, so you can ask questions in your own time zone.
- Karnataka degrees: Trinity doesn't publish a tier list of Indian institutions. Graduates of VTU-affiliated colleges, Bangalore University and other Karnataka universities are assessed against the 2.1-equivalent standard course by course, so give a clear transcript and your university's grading scale.
- Visa logistics: Ireland's Embassy in New Delhi handles student visas for India, with documents and biometrics lodged through VFS Global. VFS Global runs an Ireland Visa Application Centre in Bengaluru (Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00), so you can lodge your application without leaving Bangalore — confirm current appointment slots on VFS's Ireland–India site when you book.
- Getting there: Most students fly from Kempegowda International Airport to Dublin with one stop via a Gulf or European hub, so compare connection times as well as fares.
Falcon Nova's office is in Hebbal, North Bangalore (7th floor, Kirloskar Business Park), and you can book a free counselling session in person or online.
