How do you apply for an Ireland student visa from Bangalore?
An Ireland student visa from Bangalore follows four steps: fill in the AVATS Online form, book VFS, lodge your documents and biometrics, and wait for the Embassy's decision. AVATS is Ireland's online visa application system. The Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi handles applications from people living in India.
From offer letter to visa
- 1
Pay your fees and get an unconditional offer. The offer letter must say you have paid at least €6,000 of your tuition (or the full fee, if it is lower).
- 2
Complete the AVATS Online form. Print it and sign it. Note your AVATS reference number.
- 3
Book an appointment with VFS Global at the Ireland centre in Bangalore, and pay the visa fee to VFS when you book.
- 4
Attend VFS. Give your fingerprints and photo if you are 5 or older, and lodge your passport and documents. VFS scans your original documents and gives them back.
- 5
Wait for the decision. VFS sends your file to New Delhi. You can check the outcome in the Embassy's daily list of decisions.
You can apply up to 4 months before you travel for study. Apply early, because the Embassy says applications made less than 3 weeks before a course starts may not get a decision in time.
How much is the Ireland student visa fee in India?
The Ireland visa fee in India is ₹5,300 for a single-entry visa and ₹9,000 for a multiple-entry visa, as of October 2026. You pay it to VFS Global when you book your appointment, and VFS adds its own service charges.
| Item | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Single-entry visa | ₹5,300 | Paid to VFS when you book |
| Multiple-entry visa | ₹9,000 | Paid to VFS when you book |
| VFS service charges | Extra | Shown on VFS Global's Ireland site |
| Tuition already paid | At least €6,000 | Or the full fee if it is lower |
| Living funds | At least €10,000 | Ready access, with the source explained |
Visa fees and VFS fees are not refunded if an application is refused or withdrawn. A careful file saves you money as well as time.
What documents do you need for an Ireland study visa?
The Ireland study visa checklist from the Embassy in New Delhi asks for your passport, finances and study documents. The Embassy's VFS checklist (version of 26 March 2026) lists these items for study.
| Document | What the Embassy asks for |
|---|---|
| Signed AVATS form | Original, completed, dated and signed |
| Passport | At least 2 empty pages; valid for 12 months after you arrive in Ireland |
| Old passports | Full photocopy of every previous passport |
| Photos | Recent, white background, not older than 3 months |
| Offer letter | Unconditional offer stating fees paid (minimum €6,000) |
| Proof of payment | Receipt from your college |
| Bank statements | Last 6 months, for you and your sponsor |
| Summary Statement of Finances | The Embassy's own form |
| Access to €10,000 | Evidence of the money and where it came from |
| Sponsor letter | With proof of your family link, if a sponsor pays |
| Application letter | Your own letter explaining your plans |
| English evidence | For example, your IELTS result |
- Insurance: travel and medical insurance is needed only if your visa is approved.
- Language: every document must be in English, or translated by an official translation company.
- Large deposits: explain any large debits or credits in your bank statements clearly.
- Easy checking: the Embassy suggests documents that are easy to verify, such as DigiLocker documents.
Your bank statements carry a lot of weight. The Embassy may verify them with your bank, and unclear deposits slow things down. Our counsellors can go through your Summary Statement of Finances and statements with you before you book VFS. Book a free session.
Where are Ireland visa decisions made, and how long do they take?
Ireland visa decisions for India are made at the Embassy of Ireland's Visa Office in New Delhi. Study visas usually take 4 to 8 weeks, according to the Embassy's processing times page updated on 17 September 2026.
- Working days count. The clock starts when the Embassy receives your file, not when you visit VFS. Files from centres outside Delhi, including Bangalore, take two working days to reach the Embassy.
- Return journey: after a decision, your passport goes to the Delhi centre and is sent to you by courier, usually within two working days.
- Checking your result: the Embassy publishes an updated list of decisions each morning. Search it for your AVATS reference number.
- Phone calls: the Embassy may call you or your sponsor from 011 49403200 to ask questions. Answer the call.
VFS Ireland Bangalore: what to bring and Karnataka options
VFS Global's Ireland centre in Bangalore is open Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00, according to VFS Global's list of Ireland centres in India. The exact address and time are on your appointment confirmation.
- Bring: your appointment confirmation, your passport, the signed AVATS form, all supporting documents, and receipts for any services you bought online.
- Mangalore: VFS also lists a premium Ireland application centre in Mangalore that opens on Saturday afternoons.
- Karnataka marksheets: Irish colleges read your SSLC and II PUC marksheets from KSEAB, or your VTU or Bangalore University transcripts. Put the same versions in your visa file.
- Free help in North Bangalore: you can review your file with a counsellor at our Hebbal office before your VFS day.
The Embassy reminds applicants in India that everyone must attend VFS in person for biometrics. Ireland does not issue eVisas, so a visa that arrives without a VFS visit is not genuine. Our VFS Global Bangalore guide explains what happens at the centre.
